From grid fault to back online.

Grid fault detected
The inverter continuously monitors the incoming grid connection. The moment voltage drops outside the acceptable range — whether a full outage or a significant sag — the system detects it instantly.
Automatic islanding in milliseconds
The inverter disconnects from the grid (a legal requirement — known as anti-islanding) and simultaneously switches your home onto its own isolated power supply. On most systems this takes under 20ms — less than the refresh rate of a TV screen.
Battery and solar take over
Your battery discharges to cover your home load. If it’s daytime and your solar panels are generating, that output is used first — stretching battery capacity further. The system manages all of this automatically.
Generator kicks in if needed (optional)
For extended outages, a generator can be tied into the system. The Victron Quattro natively supports automatic generator start — if the battery drops below a set threshold, the generator fires up and charges the battery while powering the home.
Grid restored — seamless reconnection
When the grid returns to normal parameters, the inverter reconnects automatically. You may never have noticed anything happened. The system logs the event and MiniGrid monitoring flags it in your performance report.

For rural properties, off-grid homes or anyone who needs multi-day resilience, MiniGrid can tie a generator into your backup system. When battery state of charge drops below a configurable threshold, the generator starts automatically — charging the battery and powering the home in parallel.
The Victron Quattro is purpose-built for this. It accepts two AC inputs simultaneously — grid and generator — switching between them intelligently based on your priority settings and battery state.
